Have you been invited to a party or celebrating a special occasion this summer? Need a host or hostess gift?
Well here are a few unique gift ideas that won’t break the bank and are sure to please!
1. Picture frame…Stock up on a few of your favorite styles when they are on sale! A personal favorite is the tarnish free Sterling Silver frame by Argento.
2. Guest Book…Guests can write a message to the host or hostess that will last forever!
3. Kitchen towels…Always needed and appreciated.
4. Kitchen soap and lotion set…Once again always needed and appreciated and both the towels and gift set can be found at Williams-Sonoma.
5. Cookbook…If you know what kind of food they enjoy, try buying a book that specializes in it. If not, buy the newest edition of an all time favorite like The Joy of Cooking.
Just remember that gift giving needn’t be difficult but rather, fun and from the heart!

Vera Wang is the most famous wedding dress designer of modern times. Even though her design portfolio contains at least 40 categories, she has an enduring reputation as the go-to designer of bridal gowns for celebrities and every day women alike.
Here are Vera Wang’s top 10 Wedding Day Do’s from WWD (:
1. Feeling comfortable in your appearance is incredibly important.
2. The elements of your dress should be determined not only by where you get married but what time of day it is and the temperature of the venue.
3. It’s important to see the whole look-not just the dress. The headpiece, bouquet and shoes and even makeup shouldn’t just be an afterthought.
4. Hem length is key. The dress should float just above the shoes, but the shoes shouldn’t be visible.
5. The bouquet shouldn’t be so big that it would detract from the dress.
6. Make up shouldn’t make the bride not look like herself-it should enhance the features, not disguise them. Same with hairstyles-avoid anything elaborate with too many bobby pins.
7. Use your shoes to coordinate your height with the groom. Wear a kitten heel if you are close in height and a platform if he’s a lot taller.
8. Use black and white photography as well as color. It’s timeless.
9. Always step into your dress rather than pull it over your head-that’s asking for trouble with makeup and hair.
10. Savor the moment and take your time walking back down the aisle. It lets people see the dress. You put a great amount of time into the planning, so enjoy every minute!

Everyone should make time to take a trip to our nation’s capitol, Washington D.C. It’s a beautiful, busy city where you will learn to appreciate the sacrifices of so many for the freedoms we have.
Favorite quote:
“Freedom is not free.”
After countless hours browsing through travel books, we have created a simple to-do (see) list so you don’t have to!
Museums, Memorials, etc.:
Air and Space Museum - There are actually two separate museums with one located at the National Mall and the second one in route to the Dulles Airport in Virginia. The latter, being amazingly large (located in a hanger) with such items as the retired Concord and numerous space shuttles and capsules.
It’s a must see!
The Holocaust Museum
Smithsonian Natural History Museum (Night of the Museum was filmed here!)
Federal Bureau of Engraving and Printing – tours are a mere 30 minutes but, the site is fantastic!
Spy Museum – especially great for the younger kids
Museum of Crime and Punishment
Smithsonian Museum of American History
Ford Theater
The Capitol (be sure to write to your local congressman 3 months in advance to get a pass to visit the House of Representatives and the Senate) It’s an impressive tour and quite informative!
World War II Memorial
Lincoln Memorial
Washington Monument (because you can’t miss it, really, its the tallest thing in D.C.) No need to go inside unless you have a pre-purchased ticket, otherwise line is an hour and a half long.
Vietnam Memorial (you’ll either love it or hate it) – It’s controversial with the life size statues but we loved it!
Korean War Memorial
Arlington National Cemetery – Check out their daily schedule – we were blessed to have witnessed a dedication where a serviceman played TAPS on the Bugle – it was timeless.
Best Place to Stay: The Willard Intercontinental Hotel – history is still being made in the Round Robin Bar and it’s a mere 2 blocks from the White House.

Everything’s coming up in color this Spring…Even jewelry! This is the time to really shine with colored stones. Bring out your purple and green gems to wear with just about any neutral color. Your turquoise pieces would look fabulous with the color coral or visa versa.
This is the time of year to really enjoy your fun, festive, expressive pieces of jewelry…Why not?! Spring is the time to start fresh and be colorful.
Just remember, if it’s large or bright piece of jewelry, keep the outfit on the simple side or wear with monocromatic colors. Let the jewelry take center stage… with YOU, that is!

Here’s a gift for you. Download these songs we’ve selected and gift them to your girl or keep them for yourself and make it a part of a fun, romantic Valentine’s date.
Also, here are a few suggestions to make it extra special.
♥ instead of buying chocolate dipped strawberries, why not buy the chocolate and strawberries and dip them before she arrives or even better, why not dip them together?
♥ instead of going out to dinner, why not support your local market and make a romantic dinner at home?
♥ most importantly, check out her SheWants profile and get her what she really wants this year!

The 2010 holidays are coming to a close and now the big question…what do you do with the gifts you received that you don’t like? Here are some interesting ideas to deal with the situation if your gift givers didn’t use SheWants.com.
- Have a gift swap party.
- Here’s how it works:
- You set up different price ranges to enter in items and then invite your friends to see who wants to participate. Just remember that one person’s She Wants Not item could be on another’s Wish List. Serve up tasty bites and delicious drinks and you have a fun little party.
- Give the gifts you can’t use to charities like Salvation Army, Goodwill, or homeless shelters. These organizations have worthy causes and will appreciate your contributions.
- Regift
- But, please remember, don’t re-gift without full disclosure! It’s great to pass along gifts you can’t use to others that will appreciate them-just make sure you’re honest and don’t pass it off as a true gift for them.

Tis the season for jewelry and we LOVE when that happens!
A few notables this season:
*Unique and Personal Pieces
For example, a big jeweled brooch on a jacket lapel is so chic and when used to hold a cashmere shawl in place – divine and unexpected!
*Layered Jewelry
From the runways to the red carpet – everyone is layering long strands of jewels or pearls and they aren’t stopping there…According to Neil Lane they are wrapping necklaces around their wrists this season!
*Stackable Rings
These pieces are so special because they offer versatility! With all of the upcoming seasonal events – what better way to change it up then by using different colored stones and styles with different ensembles?!
*Pendants
Pendants are the easiest thing to give this holiday season. No sizing required and always a nice addition to one’s collection. These gifts can be given with or without a chain.
*Silver
With the price of gold being so high, many young, hip jewelers are opting to work more with silver. The most popular is silver with micro pave, silver with unique textures and finishes, and silver with enamel and big silver bangles.
Enjoy your treasures this holiday season!
